As the ground started shaking two friends hid under the table and started talking:
A: “Hey is this an earthquake?”
B: “I suppose so.”
A: “We should stay down here until it passes.”
B: “You’re right, we’re safer here.”

Etc.

Ak by ste chceli skusobnu lekciu, kludne mi napiste. Pekny den.

**Alex**: Hey Jamie, did you feel the earthquake last night?

**Jamie**: Yeah, I did! It woke me up around 2 AM. It was pretty intense. Did it shake things up at your place too?

**Alex**: Definitely. My whole apartment was shaking for what felt like forever, but I think it was just a few seconds. I was worried my bookshelf was going to tip over.

**Jamie**: Same here. I heard things rattling in the kitchen. Luckily, nothing broke. Have you checked the news? Do we know how strong it was?

**Alex**: I checked this morning. They said it was a 5.8 magnitude. Not the biggest, but strong enough to be felt widely. They’re still assessing the damage in some areas.

**Jamie**: 5.8? That’s pretty strong. I heard some parts of the city experienced power outages. Thankfully, our power stayed on.

**Alex**: Yeah, I heard about that too. Some older buildings apparently had some structural damage, but nothing major reported so far. It’s a good reminder to be prepared for these things.

**Jamie**: Absolutely. Do you have an emergency kit at home?

**Alex**: I do, but I realized last night that I need to update it. Some of the food items have expired. How about you?

**Jamie**: I have one, but it’s not as complete as it should be. I need to add more water and some first aid supplies. Last night was a real wake-up call.

**Alex**: It really was. I think I’ll spend some time this weekend making sure everything’s up to date and adding a few more things, like a flashlight and extra batteries.

**Jamie**: Good idea. I’ll do the same. It’s easy to forget how important it is until something like this happens. Do you have a plan for what to do during an earthquake?

**Alex**: I’ve read about it, but I realized I didn’t react as quickly as I should have. They say to drop, cover, and hold on, right?

**Jamie**: Yes, exactly. I remembered that and got under my desk. It’s supposed to protect you from falling debris. We should probably review the safety procedures regularly.

**Alex**: Agreed. Maybe we can get together sometime and go over the plans. It’s better to be prepared than caught off guard.

**Jamie**: Sounds good to me. Let’s stay safe and ready for whatever comes our way.

**Alex**: Definitely. Here’s to hoping we don’t have another one anytime soon, though!

**Jamie**: Fingers crossed!
